The Alex Rezkalla Open is an 18-hole golf scramble for the purposes of raising awareness and funds to support Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy ("DMD") medical research. The event is played on two golf courses - Scioto Reserve Country Club and Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club. After golf, there is a party at Scioto Reserve Country Club.

Event History

What started out as an idea to get some friends together in 2016 for a small golf scramble quickly turned into a 180-person managed event within 2 months after opening registration. We added a second golf course, put together an after-party, and solicited donations for a silent and live auction and netted $65k in our first year.

Since then, we have grown the golf event into a large-scale premier outing in the Columbus market. Approximately 250 players come out each year to support us along with 50 volunteers. Our live and silent auction has over 50 items that include unique experiences and one-of-a-kind items such as autographed sports memorabilia, vacation homes, rounds of golf at exclusive private courses, and behind the scenes tours and entertainment packages. What makes our event special are the on-course games, food and beverages provided by generous donors. Not to mention the after-party where our honorary chair and honorees help tell the story of Duchenne and interact with the crowd with autographs, pictures, and live auction. While there are prizes for the winners, you do not have to be an avid golfer to play in our event. It is a friendly scramble format designed for fun and charity first. For us, the purpose is to tell the story of Duchenne to as many people as possible. Through that, we raise awareness and funds to support medical research.
